It has been a long time since I pulled the trigger on the 338 rem ultra mag.

Thinking of the 225 accubond or 225 Barnes ttsx. Would appreciate your thoughts
on bullet and load info.

Looks like H1000 and Reloader 25 may work and could you expect 3150 fps
out of a 26" barrel ?

Would also appreciate any load info to try as it eats a good chunk of powder each time.

Thank You

A combo I've come across in a Rem XCR II 338 RUM that shot extremely well was a 225 TTSX .050 off the lands, 91.0 grains of Norma MRP, with a Fed 215 in Nosler brass. This load produced 3170 fps and put three shots into a single clover leaf shaped hole.

Thanks again

Seated to magazine length on a model 700 with 225 accubonds, 94 to 97 grains of RL25 works well. 97 is a hot load at 3300 in my gun, 95 was easier on my brass. 225 tipped triple shocks maxed out on pressure with 1 grain less powder, but 95 shot well and around 3150.

Same seating depth with H1000, 97 grains is a very accurate load at right around 3200. I went as high as 99, but short brass life wasn't worth the added velocity.

Great Info,
Thank You

These days you have to save your brass as it's hard to come by.

What barrel length do you have ?

Suggest look at Retumbo powder for your ultra mag with 250's.

The new RL 26 also should great along with H1000.

with 225gr seems RL 22/23 seemed to work the best.
