Currently have a vanguard getting rebarrelled with an 8twist proof. Going to change bottom metal to open the mag up to 3.7”
Just waiting on 180eldms and brass to come in so I can make up a dummy round and get it to my smith.
I’m thinking of using h1000. Anyone have any experience with the 180eldm in 7rm and what powder did you use. How far from the lands?
Any suggestions will be great.
Thanks

I am doing load test right now with them shot last weekend with 69-70 gr in .2 gr increments with H1000 loaded more so now going 70-71 gr in same increment will keep u posted. From my personal experience with 180 bergers in my 7mm if u can get velocity in the 2950-3000 range there has always been a node their, with last 3 7mm RM I have had. I will update on Sunday. Getting 3k with my current load of 69.6gr with 180 bergers but at 70 gr was only at about 2930 with 180 eldm.

I did the same thing I loaded dummy round that would fit in my 300 win AI mag and sent it off. I got room for days in that case now. I have had best luck with h1000 but I know if u look at like quarter minute magnums they rock some 4831 with great results. My barrel is shorter but I always run can so I have to work a little harder to get that 3k mark concerning fps than most. Ballistically the ol 7 RM is often over looked but is still very much a contender when it comes to performance and barrel life.

I'm shooting the 180 ELD-M in my 28 Nosler, not exactly the same as a 7 RM but I'll share my experience:
with H1000 78 grains was max and got me 3000 FPS in a 26" barrel, accuracy was great as usual with this powder.
I tried Retumbo and 80 grains got me a tad over 3100 fps, again accuracy is great.
H1000 is one of my favorites but Retumbo has always given me more velocity with heavy for caliber bullets.

I've been liking 77-78gns US869. Great velocities, easy metering. I run mine .020-.040 off depending on the load. Definitely want a F215 primer.

61.5-63.3gr RL23 loaded around 3.475 got fantastic results with the 180eld-m and my 9t Criterion. I found the 180s to be explosive at closer distances and high velocities, but they still averaged about 20" penetration in water jugs at 100 yards. Due to that I switched to 150 Swift Scirocco II's and H4831 for deer season last year. Worked like a charm but the ELD-M'S would have also at 230 yards broadside.

My goal is 3k with 180eldm. I was hoping to find that node remmy700 mentioned. It has a 28” tube. I’ve had such good luck with a tight es on my weatherbys with h1000 was I wanted to try it, but if I hit pressure, retumbo will hopefully get me there. Have you compared es between h1000 and retumbo?

I plan on using f215 primers.

Tried it in my 7mm Wea, and got 3128 fty/sec with 175 gr bullet from 26" barrel. In mine the vel was good but the accuracy just wasn't there.
