180eldm in 7mm rem mag load suggestions

H1000 is one of the best powders for hunting due to great accuracy potential, clean burning, and most of all, temp stability. Not the absolute highest velocities however.

I have loaded for 7 or 8 different 7RMs using 175 to 183s over H1000. Usually between 68.0-71.5gr. Speeds have always been between 2940-3090 from 24-26" barrels. Plenty for taking game out to 1000+ as long as the shooter is capable and conditions are right.

My personal 26" 1:8.5" 7RM pushes a 180 Hybrid @ 2996fps over 69.0gr H1000. Taken elk from 75 to 662 with it. Both pass throughs. 75 yards had a racquetball sized exit, 662 was about the size of a $.50 piece. Neither elk went more than 40-50 yards.

That's why h1000 will be the first powder I use. If I can find a good node around 3k I will be happy. It's getting a 28" barrel so 3k should be easy

71grn H1000, 250cci, nos brass with 180 ELD-M

67grn H4831SC over a 250 cci in nos brass with the 162amax/162 eld-m .01 off lands, 2950fps drops out to 1000yards proven

I have a 28 nosler and I'm getting 3090 FPS with 79 grains of h1000. 26 inch barrel.

I'm going to try this bullet at slower speeds in my 7mm. I believe at around 2750 FPS MV, the bullet would be in the optimum impact speed from muzzle to 1000 yards. I hoping this would eliminate blow ups at closer range I'm hearing that expanding at slower speeds is never a problem with this bullet. The difference in the 250 FPS only nets a 2 inch wind drift at 1000 yards with a 10 mph crosswind.

I found my load for the 180 gr ELD-M with RL26. 67.3 grs gives me a MV of 3015 and the last two group were .135 and .151. I use Fed GM210M primers. Bullets seated .005 off the lands. When the weather clears up I'll move out to 800 - 1200 yds to see what I can get.

I am currently running the 180eldm in both my 7mm Rem Mag and a 28 Nosler

7mm Rem mag Tikka T3 barrel shortened to 21 inch with DPT over barrel suppressor
ADG brass
Fed 210M primers
Reloader 26 68.5gr
Projectiles seated to fit magazine so lots of jump
Average 2896fps shoots sub .43 moa 3 shot groups

28 Nosler Remington 700 Bartlein #3 27 inch barrel 1 in 8 twist with Terminator T2 brake
Bertram brass neck turned
Fed 215M primers
AR2225 (Retumbo) 82gr
Seated 10 thou off rifling
Average 3210fps shoots average 1/3 moa 3 shot groups

Skip the 180 eldm. To fragile for hunting. Shot a deer in the shoulder at 700. Dropped. Got back up and tried to walk to off. Bullet exploded on shoulder. Buddy shot an elk at 450 yards. Took three shots. Blow ups.
