ok gentlemen this is my first post so go easy on me please.
Just checking to see if anyone is loading the 195 elite hunter yet?
Am having another stw built it will have a 28 inch Krieger and be
throated for the 195. 1 in 8.5 twist. Using nosler brass mostly.

I was shooting the 195 in my 8" twist shilen barreled 7stw pushed by rl33, but the load pooped out when the temp dropped, so I went to 7828 to see if that worked better. It works, but it seems to top out at 2920 fps. I think I may play with rl25 and retumbo to see if I can get better performance. This rifle already does very well with 140ab's and rl25...

thank you for your reply Lefty7mmstw. I have only been reloading about 3 yrs. My current stw I
use h1000 75.5 grains with a 180 vld 26 inch benchmark . Huskemaw built my turrets and their chrony says 3060. My chrony says only 2995 tp 3010 here in Florida. Heavy humidity here.
My question I guess is for a starting point would I use more or less powder than the 75.5 grains
for the heavier bullet?

I'd try some 7977, it's right next to H1000 on the burn chart, so it's slower than 7828. You should get to the magic 3K mark without too much pressure.

I got some, and am going to test it with my 180 Hybrids since I don't have the twist or elevation to even attempt the 195's right now.

I'd look at load data before you attempt to load the 195 berger in your 7stw; they take a LOT less powder than the 175's do. I also wouldn't bother with them unless you have a fast twist (8" or so) barrel. A 9"+ twist factory barrel will not cut it accuracy wise.

Muddy; I may just try 7977, but I love the way the 140ab's shoot in this pipe so well I may just re-barrel my 7rum to a 8" twist and shoot the 195's there. My 7rum will need a barrel in the next year or two anyway...

I thank you both for your replys and help. I contacted Berger today and they sent me a load
sheet for the 195. After I get this rifle and get some time on it I will get back with you and let you
know how it does. Thanks again.

I'd bet a lot of guys would appreciate you posting that info on here that Berger sent you if you've got time to post it.

They sent me that on Dec 31. By the way hi, been reading here for a while first post, just bought a Rem 700 in 7 STW. After I saw those numbers I decided to stick with the 180s in the factory barrel 1:9 twist

I don't have any direct data for the 195s but the Hodgdon manual that they put out each year has loads for the stw and 7977 for just about every bullet they test. In every case the charge weights for 7977 are almost identical to h1000 from 120 to 180gr bullets. So you'll probably be safe with the listed load for h1000 and the 195s. I'd start a grain low of the minimum just to be safe and go from there.

Well, I misspoke a little. I was going from memory when I bought the magazine around new years. Below is the data from the 2016 manual for a few of the bullets they shot for both H1000 and 7977. Not quite identical but pretty close for these few examples anyway.
