Are the tubes cold to the touch , or the same ambient temperature as the other metal surfaces of the rifle ?
I can see that the spacing between the tubes helps promote more air-flow through the fore-end of the
stock , thereby allowing barrel heat to dissipate more quickly .
How are the nitrogen filled tubes more efficient than empty tubes , or tubes filled with water , sand , or any other substance that they might be filled with ?
Unless there is some sort of refrigerated system that flows compressed nitrogen through an expansion valve , thereby creating cooling by the rapidly expanding gasses . But then it would need to have a compressor and a condenser in addition to the expansion valve to complete the refrigerating/cooling system .
I am not being dis-respectful , I am just curious as to how the tubes work .
