Is The Barrel About To Crack????? HELP
I just noticed a Ring around me Tikka T3 Lite Barrel in 7mm Rem Mag its about 50mm in front of were the NF scope Ends.
I've never noticed it before and it really caught my eye
any one know what it could be its bigger then it looks in the pic

most likly it is a small step from profiling the barrel during manufacturing, see it on some custom barrels as well.

If you push a tight patch thru the bore and don't feel anything than quit worrying about imminent destruction.

just take it to a smith. do not chance it. the smith should be able to do Die Penetrant Test on the barrel, which will show the crack, if there is any. if it is cracked, call Tikka. Pretty sure they will help you out.

I agree with the machining step comment. Also, In a pressurized cylinder such as a barrel, Hoop stress is double that of radial stress. In other words, a barrel will never cracked like that due to pressure; it will cracked longitudanally.
