I have several firearms that are Cerakoted and they have held up well.

I'm building up a 10/22 that I may have the chassi hydro dipped. Anyone know how well hydro dipping is holding up now? I've seen some shotguns and rifles on racks that look pretty rough that were hydro dipped. Unknown how old these were.

Factory hydro dipped have a thin automotive grade clearcoat applied over. Durability increased several fold.
If I decide to go the hydro dip route, the company I'm looking at uses the automotive clear coat too? It's two parts that gets mixed just before spraying.

there was a guy in north Houston that did the toughest hydro I've seen, held up really well so I'm guessing it had a top coat or something. he charged quite a bit more than others so he was doing something different. other than that it seems to come off easier then more traditional finishes from what I've seen
