Way back in the Dark Ages a cartridges usable distance was determined by when it went trans sonic. Then a long came ballistic programs with Mach Speed adjustments. So how well do today's ballistic programs navigate trans sonic disruption? Seems that the folks of the Canadian AMU have worked out most of the trans sonic problem. How well does your current ballistic program resolve the problem?

Just wondering about the reliability of hit percentage vs entirely supersonic flight? Technology is a wonderful thing, the Canucks are stretching supersonic flight by hundreds of yards on a ten inch target. Is this currently the norm, or are they doing something special? I'm getting a ton of flack for shooting at half the current distance in the late 90's with the same equipment. Ballistic programs have got to be improved? Just for reference: 3.8 K yards?? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_recorded_sniper_kills#:~:text=In June 2017, an unnamed,50 BMG ammunition was used.

You will want WEZ ability offered through Applied Ballistics, the leader in calculators and features.

Hornady ballistics program has been close enough for my needs for 22/250, .243, and 30-06. For some unknown reason, the .350 Legend is a little flatter than the program indicates.

Another vote for AB Quantum. Beyond what is mentioned you can get it installed on long range devices like Kestral and a number of range finding bino's.

James is correct Eagle ballistic. If James gets that thing any better it would have to pull the trigger for you! :)

Which begs me to ask, what program are the Canadians using? That's some stupid precision. With just a tac 50 and an S&B dayscope they are calculating 0.25 MOA through trans sonic, and with at least half the flight subsonic. Man that's some serious precision capability. Now if only one guy was going it? But they have multiple shooters over multiple years. If anyone knows what they are using it just may become a must have?

Do you recommend to your students to familiarize themselves with using the app before showing up for class?

I certainly would do that. There is a lot of info crammed into a day, no time to waste getting familiar with using software.
