Hornady Interlock: A Classic Performer?

I've shot more deer with Interlocks than any other bullet. I don't like how SSTs and Ballistic Tips perform at all. YMMV
I agree with these two statements. Interlocks have been outstanding for me. I've only whacked a few with partitions over the years but have no complaints at all.

I loaded up a ladder for my Tikka T3x 3006 of 165 grain Hornady Interlocks last night. 56-57.5 grains of H4350 to see what groups best.

My goal is to find a simple, affordable bullet that will anchor whitetail at ranges from 0-300 yards.

Anyone have experience, feedback with the Hornady Interlocks? I used them in factory American Whitetail ammo in a 308 and it laid them down.
The 165 Hornady was my go to for both 30-06 and 300 win mag, took at least a dozen elk with that bullet.

Here are three of the 165 grain interlock's I recovered from elk. They worked as advertised.

Hornady Interlock bullets have been my standard "go to" bullet for deer hunting sincce 1976. My most accurate load for my Ruger 77 tang safety 30-06 is the 165 grain FB spire point using 56.5/57 grains of IMR 4350 and standard large rifle primer. With this load, my Ruger rifle will shoot .75" 3 shot groups @ 100 yards. All Georgia whitetails taken with this load were one-shot stops. Moving to Colorado in 1981, I used this same load to take my 1st bull elk; however, it required 3 shots to drop the elk. Learning from that experience, I now load Hornady 180 grain bullets in the 30-06 for general big game hunting in WY and have rebarreled a 2nd Ruger 77 to 338-06 AI using Hornady's 225 grain FB spire point for elk and larger.
I have had excellent results with Hornady. I believe you will find the .308 - 165 grain Hornady bullet and 4350 powder will be very accurate for you.

My dad has been using them longer then I have been alive and I have been using them in various cartridges since I was old enough to hunt. They are reliable, affordable and accurate. Ive used them on everything from coyotes to moose, elk and bears. They will fit the bill for you if you rifle likes them.

Once upon a time,I had a 260 and the only bullet that would hold together was the Nosler partition. Back in those days when your supply ran low you ran to your LGS and grabbed another box off the shelf. With deer season fast approaching, I walked into the LGS and the place where the .264 125 partitions should be was empty. A rare situation back then.

I grabbed a box of 129 interlocks off the shelf and headed home. I was a little surprised at how well they shot. Then the moment of truth. High shoulder hit because I didn't expect a pass through. Walked up to the deer and there before my eyes was a golf ball size exit hole. This was a sight that got to be boringly common. Never bought another box of partitions.

According to older issues of NRA's American Rifleman magazine, the Remington CoreLokt is the Number 1 choice of US hunters (out to 400 yards). It's closest rival is the Hornady Interlock. In terminal ballistics tests the Interlock is the slightly tougher of the two!

one of the most effective bullets out to 300 yards for a 30-06 I've used.
have used them over 20 years and loaded them for several 30-06 and 300 win mag.
run 180 gr in 30-06 and 300wm.
I have killed so many whitetails with them I've lost count. They just work.
30-06 with h4350 57-58 gr
300 win mag with h1000 79 gr
just supper effective on whitetails.

Its one of the better bullets for the -06. I have used them in my 03A3 and the 165gr bullets shoot around 0.8 Inches at 100 yards. I shoot them and I shoot both Speer and Sierra 180 grain loads using IMR 4350 with excellent results on both White tail and Mule deer. They're good for at least 500 yards, and more if you're good with your bullet placement.

After you have tried everything else, the IL either matches or is better!!!
