H US 869 In a 6.5 PRC

Yes, this is a zombie thread but the members seem to enjoy the newer information as much as the OP was asking about.

There are a few variables which affect the answers to this question:

Hodgdon's Data is slightly fallacious because of the both the volumes and the the notations regarding compression.

It's a Ball Powder and therefore the fill and compression are different from stick powders.

Performance under compression reacts differently powder to powder.

Like most Ball Powders, the coatings needed for performance detract from the environmental sensitivities, temperature mostly. I manage to use US869 in several large capacity (+100 gr.) case with excellent performance but I'm shooting under very consistent temps.

Quite frankly I believe that US869 should be avoided in the 6.5 PRC. Too slow, temp sensitivity, compression and lack of complete burning which is a real waste these days. There are much better powders, find them and use them.
