Need some direction on a smith who I can send a Remington 700 and have it pillar bedded into a McMillan stock I purchased it for it. Any help/recommendation would be appreciated. Thanks!
Very nice Joel! I'm assuming that is devcon? What bedding compound do you prefer?
I've used quite a few over the years, and eventually settled on Devcon.
Joel do you have a preference in regards to bedding the first inch or two of the barrel?
Those two pictures I posted are indicative of how I bed the small and large stuff. The one on the right is a .338-.408. Smaller calibers/barrels, I do not chamber bed. Larger ones I do.
Ahh i see, so just when you feel the barrel may be heavy for the action?
I'm about to send a rifle for rebarrel and bedding to Kevin Cram (sponsor) so I hope he is in the running for someone you guys would use!
