GLFA 300 win mag

It came in!. I'm so excited. Put a down payment on it for lay away and hopefully soon it will come home with me. Lol. The shop keepers were understandably wanting to peek at the beast. One of them was an A.R. specialist and un impressed untill I said it was chambered in 300 W.M. the eyes poped out alittle. Abit more when he learned the price. Lol more to follow in three weeks or less I'll have this suckered in its proper home.

get that thing picked up i'm waiting to hear your opinion on it.

Ok ok. I got it two days ago. I've been caressing it. So by topic.
Barrell : 24" long .750" ish.(can't find my darn calipers) so a heavy sport contour. I judge off of mcgowen standards. Over all I'm pleased with this.

The finnish: is a bronze coating that'd flat finished. (No shine) I wasn't keen on the colour but the caliber was to good.

Action : smooth as silk and I would not want to get my finger caught in there.

Trigger: heavy! Very heavy but no real slack. It breaks crisply being that this a standard milspec I'm sure you can drop a different one in. I haven't mounted glass on it yet so actual shooting is on hold for a day or two more.

Magazine: this is the best felling ever. It's huge. I have slid federal 180 Spitzer loads unto it and there still room!. So 200 grains will be in this rifles future. There is atleast room for that. I'll be doing a test on the length to the rifling lands Here soon.

Over all this is not your average "A.R. 10" IS NOT EVEN THE same D.N.A I don't know which bolt action the parent ar made love to yet as I have yet to shoot it but it got good steady bones. It's sturdy and about the right wheight I want for such a caliber. ( I have never been a fan of the light mag rifles)

A final note is that according to GLFA this line of rifles are suppose to be inter changeable and I have spotted 7mm rem mags for sale out there should that interest you. Any other questions feel free to ask.

When a caliber is changed, then a proper sized gas port will need to be done. The 200gr you mentioned will probably be within the 3.340" saami length, unless you handload longer. @ saami max length depending on ogive it might not chamber due the throat? I'd love to get 1 chambered in 264wm!

They haven't mentioned the 264 wm but that would indeed be sharp.

Probably not a cartridge GLFA would chamber in, but being able to do a barrel change IF a receiver was available would be excellent! Not everyone is an AR style fan, but I'd get 1 for sure! Getting a barrel extension compatible for the GFLA and finding a place to chamber it (even if it's an extra custom chamber charge) is key.

noticed it uses a standard rifle length gas system (12.7") and am very curious about gas port size? I wish someone would make a double stack single feed mag. I think it would be a better option than the few companies (omen, barrett ) that have (I believe double feed) 14 rounds. APF has their own mags, but 5 round limit. 5 rounds might be fine, but I'd like at least 10 for some reason?

Lol.
Your not alone on the mag capacity. However for the price I'm not surprised to say it's a single stack mag. For sub 1k sale price it's perhaps the only place they really seemed to cut corners. Yes a ten round mag would be great. However a round like this is not for mag dumping but for some level of trigger discipline. Ah the fun I'm going to have.

Notice I didn't ask for a drum mag ;) . Imagine that for a mag dump? When there's lots of piggies, me's wants more ammo in a mag! I could go non=magnum, but where's the fun in that!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
