Getting ready...early cow hunt.

I absolutely love getting ready for hunting season. This year it starts with the Z's getting ready for a early season cow hunt. The best part of getting ready? Sibling rivalry on whose gun is more accurate. Right now the 340 Zaylea Ann with a 236 Hammer might be the most accurate gun we have seen in quite a awhile. My daughter claims its her shooting ability. My son doesn't believe a word she's says. It's time for another hunting season!! Here are some pictures of our range time last Sunday.

Where is it cool and foggy this time of year?

This was a VERY RARE cool and foggy North Dakota summer morning. We've had a cold front come through that's brought rain and cooler temperatures. Very welcoming.

Taking a break from the heat. Been on the range since about sunrise, checked the weather and it says feels like 115. You my friend are blessed in more ways than you realize!

115? Oh my gosh! Your on the surface of the sun!! It won't hit 70 today. This cold front is incredible!
The real reality of the situation is the fact that shortly, we will be covered up in feet of snow for roughly 5 months. That's when the south shines!

Commissioners had an attack of some kind and opened our bear season statewide, August 1, with a 2 bear limit. A little weather wouldn't hurt a thing.

I still have not shot a bear.

The bears . The last 2 years I did the work, the bears hit the bait. Once I started hunting, no bears...

If they had given us the month of August a decade or so ago I could have fixed that for you. I'm a decent camping partner, but that's about it these days.

If they keep at it in years to come, it's an OTC tag, kids are out of school, and we do have bears.

I'm gettin' ready for 2nd deer & cow elk, 4th either elk. Almost got my 3rd rifle, 300RUMpshaker ready to get after it!

Ahhhhh, you guys are lucky. I can remember living in Wyoming. The first days of Sept. and all the guys in town walking with around with glazed eyes!!
