Probably been asked more than once. But

Fairly new to muzzy hunting. Did lots of shooting when I was young. 60gr with a lead ball.

Now fast forward many years. Bought a new inline. Hunting in Oregon. So limited to musket caps.

How are you guys developing your load? Running Thor bullets. With 777.
Are you going bu volume or weight?
And where are you starting and working up?

Thanks

With T7, you will want to measure your powder volumetrically, unless you go with pellets. Personally, I would use loose powder.

A normal method of developing a ML load is similar to loading cartridge cases. Start low and work up to what the max is for your particular muzzleloader. Somewhere along the way you will find a load that produces the best accuracy out of the loads you try.

Musket caps produce the least amount of the dreaded crud ring from Triple Seven in my experience.

I use to shoot T7, and had good accuracy and success with it killing deer. I've since moved on to BH209, and hope to someday move into a smokeless muzzleloader.
