Hi everyone,

Wanna replace the skinny sporter barrel on m70 300wm ultimate shadow.

FN M70s are said to have integrated recoil lugs, does that mean those lugs are fixed to the barrel or the action, Ive not removed the action from the stock, so didnt figure that out yet.

Are m70 barrels easy to fit just by screwing them in?

Who produces the most accurate and drop-in heavy-fluted barrels for FN made M70s (varmint contour, or a specific contour you may recommend??). I will put it on a choate LA stock. Thinking of a muzzle break or at least a threading would be sufficient. No need to wait 2-3 months would be very good as well.

I dont want blanks, so a drop-in model without any advanced gunsmithing will be the most important thing here.

Any idea?

Thanks for any help guys.

A drop in barrel typically requires its chamber to be finish reamed to headspace specs. There's no guarantee a drop in barrel will headspace correctly because the dimensions of the bolt and receiver are not known; they control the final fit of the barrel for safety.

If accuracy is your top objecive and it has to be fluted, have the barrel fluted after it is gun drilled and before it's reamed to bore diameter then rifled with either cut or button method and finally lapped to specs. Note also that fluting a profiled barrel makes it less stiff than before it's fluted; 10 to 15 percent of the metal that resists bending and makes it stiff gets removed.
