Dogs on property

Cats do quite a bit of work around farm n ranch, they ain't all bad , pets just like a dog to some kids
I like them arounds barns, sheds, grain bins, pack houses etc. just not close to the house. My being allergic to them doesn't help matters.

I have a sling shot that is pretty convincing and that was my first instinct.
50gr VMAX @ 3500FPS from my slingshot. Feral dogs are a big health problem. My neighbor lost his left leg and almost his LIFE because of a couple harmless pets 0ff leash attacked my neighbor in HIS yard. 0wner of the dogs got lrate after the dog catcher came and picked her 2 darlings. She kept defending her mutts, saying, ''My darlings would not hurt a fly''.

A fat fine and an even bigger lawsuit shut that yap. No help for a lost leg and medical bills hefty enough to build USS DONALD TRUMP battleship

I like the non-lethal methods. I had a German Shepherd that got out of my yard and was shot with a .22. It shattered his hip and I had to put him down. This was in a small town. If I'd known who did it, I might be in jail now.

Dogs sometimes get out despite the best efforts of the owners. On the other hand, a pack of dogs is something else entirely. I have friends that live near the Navajo reservation, and they find abandoned dogs all the time. They found one stuck under a cattle guard. That's why they have 10 dogs.

My mom and dad have a huge cat issue in their neighborhood. It was one of those great spots for someone to drop of dogs and cats. Plus their were a lot of feral cats that would come and beat up their cat.. At last count Daddy has trapped 37 cats in just over a years time. He would trap them and take them to animal control.

That's my problems also. Dead end road way back in the mts. Stray dogs and cats show up. When they start creating a problem is when the serial killer is called.

I'm kinda in the middle. I had a cat killed in the country when I was a kid. And I've been attacked by dogs too. I love both cats and dogs, all pets really. So I'd rather not see them killed. But sometimes you have to.
I'm in your camp, but over the years some dogs that killed livestock had to go. Table salt has changed the minds on some and it works on bears too. We have bears in the yard when pears come in, and other they pass through all the time. They have learned 25 yds from bask door is the boundary.

I've never met a friendly one on the property. I'd have a hard time hurting one I'm sure. The ones I've had got after me a bit, and I grinned ear to ear.

I love my dogs, other's dogs, not so much. It's not the dog's fault for doing dog things, it's their owners fault. Unfortunately, the dog/cat pays the price because owners don't listen to complaints and you can't shoot the owner unfortunately. I vote for shooting a menace dog/cat.

Many years ago when I was probably 18 to 20 there was a German Shepard that lived across the street from my buddy's ranch. We caught him chasing cattle one day. We chased him off and went to owners house. Told him. He was an azzhole about it. Said fine. Week later saw dog in field heading towards cattle. I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag. Buddy had a S&W K38. We took turns shooting at the dog. We each took about 3 shots. Buddy hit and killed it with a 38 at about 150 yards lol.
The owner wasn't home. We put the dog in front yard. He may of thought it got hit by a car. Never heard a word from him after.

This is a subject that gets my juices flowing. I live in a rural area. There are lots of dogs running around, some of them feral. Here are my thoughts:
- If a dog comes in your yard, but is non-threatening, then talk to the owner, or call the law to handle it.
- If a dog is walking around in the woods while you are hunting, no harm no foul. It is a dog, and that is what they do.
- If a dog is chasing deer, so what? It is just a dog, and that is what they do, plus it helps move deer around.
- If a dog is in the process of killing your animals, then it has forfeited life.
- If a dog threatens you or family, then it has forfeited life.
- If my dog does something that offends you, talk to me. I am a reasonable man, and will try to resolve it.
Final word, and I am deadly serious. If you shoot my dog for no reason other than it was walking where you didn't like, then be prepared to finish the fight with me. You won't win, I guarantee.

I did have a run in with neighbors dog. I was working on my boat in pole barn, and heard noise. Look down and his dang bulldog is curled up in sun on my foot. Every time I moved my foot he would just move to touch it. Pathetic pup! 😂 I asked him if my working on boat bothered him and just looked up at me. So I dropped towel I used to wipe boat down when pulling out and he just owned it. I finished up and asked him politely if he could leave. Looks up at me like WTH? Finally he gets up and walks out the door. So three guesses what he took? Yep, carried my boat towel out like this is now mine. He has an electronic collar but sometimes he just ignores the shocks. It's set at max level. Neighbor dared me to put my hand on collar at border. DANG! Bulldogs are crazy!!!
