DLC vs Nitride What are the pro's and con's of these applications, for a rifle action. Which one is more slick.

My understanding is nitride shows wear and the parts are heated during the process. Nitride retains its lubricicity when the finish is faded. DLC is not heated during the process and very resistant to wear. I think DLC has better lubricicity properties.

One is a metal treatment -nitride

one is a coating- DLC

DLC is "slicker" feeling but can and will wear off. Not necessarily fast but it will wear and the original metal will become exposed. Nitrides color will wear/fade with use but the hardness of the metal itself that is treated does not change with this cosmetic wear. I like both.
