Deer Hunt 338 Win Mag Field Report

Laird was warned his 338 Win Mag was way too much gun for his Montanna Deer hunt.
He shot this deer at 50 yards with the 223gr Hammer Hunter. He said, "the deer jumped, dropped, and expired in less than 15 seconds."
The entry wound was nominal. The bullet broke ribs, caused bruising on the exit side, and the shank ripped an 1.5" tear, probably due to rib bone being shot out. If you look carefully you can see the small petal exits.

The .338 WM is an awesome "all around" cartridge……perhaps made better with Hammer's!

PS: there is no such thing as "overkill" in a hand-help, shoulder-fired , light enough for comfortable carry firearm! memtb
