There's been a few shot in my area that were pushing 60 pounds plus. We've been calling them coy wolves for years since a average male pure bred eastern coyote will usually top out at around 45 pounds.
Without getting a DNA test done on one locally nobody really knows and can only assume it is a hybrid.

They are definitely getting bigger around here. Last one I shot was a runner I never found. My motto now is "no more .204." I pack nothing smaller than a 243/6mm these days.

I know there are coydogs. Maybe coywolves but that article is so over exaggerated it made me lol. Written by some tree hugging anti hunter I'm sure.
