Still struggling with a carboned up barrel and came across this product. Just started testing on barrel and will post up results when finished. Says it is safe on steel and SS so could this be the Eureka we have been looking for? I will post up when I am finished testing probably tomorrow.

Can't wait to find out. I've only had success with Isso, and you have to be careful with that stuff.
So far, I've done the 15 minute test and nothing, waiting on 5 hour test according to directions. Will see later this evening. Then it says overnight if the 5 hour doesn't get it clean. I am little concerned on the fact it does have some significant hazardous ingredients that require extreme care. But if only used once in a while with right PPE I am ok with that.
Not good news, I tried the 5 minute soak and nada, 5 hour soak = nada and left overnight for 9 hours and still nada so did not work as hoped. Still scrubbing with Iosso and JB. Shoulder is getting serious PT!

figures, carbon is one tough cookie!
OK, another can on the shelf. 9 hour soak did nothing at all. Back to patch nylon brush Iosso and JB mixed with Kroil and CRC Intake Carbon cleaner. Making headway but dang it is slow to recover.

Any idea how this compares to Boretech C4? I've been very impressed with that stuff on carbon but always open to better options...

Patch with isso wrapped around nylon brush best i know of.
KG products work well. I don't use a bore-scope so can't say that it removes everything down to the last micron, but then again I subscribe to the camp of shoot more clean less. That being said, when my rifles have told me they need to be cleaned it's always gotten the job done with little effort, and their products won't damage your bore.

Anyone tried some of the carbon removers intended for engines? Some time back I saw some stuff from Stihl that you poured into the engine cylinder and let sit overnight to clean the piston and rings.

with RE33 I saw pressure from carbon in 20rds in a 28 Nosler. Not a good choice for this cartridge. I tried IMR8133 in it. This stuff is not only stable, it is very clean. I wish someone would come out with a non abrasive product that actually worked. They can do copper, why not carbon?
I am using this barrel as a test so I have ordered KG and waiting for Shooters version of a carbon cleaner. Carbon is exactly what it is, a basic element that cannot be dissolved so we need to find a product that somehow breaks the adhesion to the barrel from EXTREME heat and pressure. When I am done I will total up (ouch) all the means I have tried so far. Nylon brush with JB/Iosso still only means that is making headway. Yes I can see it from rifling getting cleaner but seems to be getting lighter in total. I have also noticed the patching is not as difficult to push through bore. I have learned a lesson for sure to clean at least after 50 rounds at most. Maybe sooner depending upon what I see. I could change powder but the load is so accurate I just cannot bring myself to do that. BTW the load is RL16 in a .270Win.

Maybe we are looking at this all wrong. Thinking of maybe looking at really good penetrants that may be able to get under the carbon from the microscopic scratches being put into it from nylon brush and JB/Iosso. Just looked for my PB Blaster and I am out so going to pick some up today. I know Kroil is one but it didn't seem to get it done. Maybe something else will. Do I sound desperate?:eek:
