Alright I'm sure this has been talked about. Looking for a carbon 22" 1:9 twist barrel for a 300 prc. Looking for pros and cons on barrel Manufacture's. Don't be afraid to spill it and don't be afraid to share your thoughts on barrel length weather I'm goin to short or I need to go longer. Gonna be hunting suppressed and using the 189-220 gr bullets.

Thank you all

I had Alex Wheeler build me a rifle a few years ago. He said Bartlein was the only carbon that he would recommend, said it was the only brand that always shot great.

This will be interesting, when the dam breaks….
^ Don't listen to this dude. He just has the worst luck with ANY barrel brand.

For me, here is my preference for CF barrels in order:

1. Benchmark. All mine (and others I have shot) have been crazy accurate and fast.
2. Bartlein. See above.

Proof are lighter than both the above. But Proof has been mostly hit or a few miss for me, and a few others I have shot. I have personally had a bad Proof with a tight spot that would pressure up way early, and it was slow too, but very accurate. It got so frustrating when my 20" would match the speeds of this 26", I pulled it. I still have a slow Proof also. Again, very accurate, but a good 100fps slower than numerous others. I have seen numerous other Proofs that were either slow or pressured up way too early, and a couple that would not shoot no matter what I tried. And yet, I have several fast Proofs, and all of mine have been very accurate. But I have mostly moved away from Proof now.

Christensen Arms has been a 80/20 barrel. 80% shoot lights out. 20% wouldn't hit the ground if you dropped them.

Hells Canyon have all been accurate, but I have heard their CS is "patience testing".

I know of 3 Bartleins CFW's returned before they were ever chambered.
1-wrap spun freely on the tube.
2-there was a 1/8" gap between wrap and muzzle steel, on the O.D.
3-CRS kicked in, I can't recall

Inspect before machining, after that you may be on your own.

The last SS one I attempted to return for inspection I was told "don't waste your time, it won't be looked at". I made it plain that I wasn't blaming the company or barrel, just wanted to rule that out.😡

Not sure when this was, but in the last year, I know of two Bartlein CF barrels that have the delaminated and have gaps between the steel of the muzzle and the carbon fiber. I know of at least three cerekote specialist that will not even do a Bartlein because they can't handle the process ovenntime and they delaminate on them.

That said, my wife and I both have a Barton CF Barrel and they shoot great but they are heavier than our proof barrels.

This is why I think Mullerworks is the better of the two, Not as heavy as a Bartlein and has excellent wrapping and balance
