brass neck resizing

To resize the brass neck only, how do I have to set up the die?
I'm using .308 federal brass.

I took a few fire formed brass from my rifle and smoked the neck and shoulders with a candle and ran them in my fl sizer die screwed my until it only removed the black smoked residue from just the neck it works but they also make neck sizers but I use my fl sizer and just bump the shoulder about every 5 or so firings...

Get a RCBS or Redding neck resizing die. Trying to make a full length resizing die do the job is an exercise in futility.

I had my Fl die neck sizing in less than 5min. After the candle smoking trick

Agree with gohring 3006, the candle trick works great for me also. I get very good life out of my brass.

Agreed....This is why I have 3-die sets for all my calibers. FL, Neck, & Seater.

candle trick explanation ,please

Light a candle and hold it at about a 45 degree angle and hold the neck of you brass just above the flame until it makes a black sutt around the neck. Then insert into your shell holder and run it up into your die. Have the die screwed backed off a round or two. Run your case in and it should leave a mark in the sutt, then ajust your die until it removes the sutt just above the shoulder.
