My friend Aram just shot a great elk with the 54cal flintlock I built him several years ago. Maybe a Muzzleloading record, Green scored 404 2/8 gross. I know the thrill he got from taking his elk with the flintlock longrifle is something that he will never forget I am so proud of him.

Yes Whip please tell everyone What unit? Which mountain? What side of said mountain? What was your elevation? Time of day? Hell just give us coordinates to the killsite!

Jokes!!! But in all seriousness... Great Bull! Great Trophy! Congratulations to your friend

Like in the movie the mountain men Ironbelly told Bill Tyler. There is a valley that is guarded by our enemy the Black Feet. Because there are Elk There. As many as stars in the sky. LOL:D
Really I don't know where he got it I never asked. Some trophy area. He has been applying for 17 years and finally got drawn. We went on a totality primative hunt for Elk and Mule deer years ago up in the mountains just up from where they live in the southern part. There were no big bulls up there back then. I did get a cow and we shot some nice Deer.

Thats a monster elk!

You got any more pics of that rifle, sure looks nice!

Here you go. Left hand early Va. style 54 cal. flintlock. Longhammock barrel, fancy curly maple stock, I hand forged the trigger, trigger guard, thimbles, side plate , butt plate and patch box.
