Best elk rifle?

I shoot a .338 RUM in the Rem 700 XCR. great rifle after a little TLC. Its a 9.5 pound rifle with bi-pod and Mark 4. I think that most can learn to handle the recoil if you shoot 225's. I was using 225 hornandy SST's at 800 yards and they shot well, but that about where I think I would call it max with 225's. I have shot 300 SMK's alot too and they work very well, though I didnt get the chance to take any game with them yet. There is a lot of diffrence in recoil between the 300's and the 225's. If you want to go with the 6lbs rifles then I wouldnt go .338.
