Best BiB bourbon

Stopped to pick up a Heaven Hill BiB and they were out.
Did find they still had a couple of blue top ETs though so pick those up.
State run liquor stores are frustrating at times, but I can get some of the sought after ones for msrp when they come in. I also picked up a full proof 1792 barrel select, but it's not bonded obviously, so off topic.
Has anyone sampled the Jack Daniel BiB?

You're not alone Early Times BiB quality has dipped noticeably in recent batches black tops were legendary value sippers blue newer ones feel thinner less flavorful, and 2026 takes confirm the slide. Wild Turkey 101 had a rough patch a few years back inconsistent batches, but the 2025 8Year 101 release is a big step up richer, more mature, classic WT spice oak caramel without the off notes some older runs had. If your new bottle is recent, crack it many say it's back to being a killer daily 101 proof sipper $45.

For your best 100 proof recommendation right now budget friendly, consistent, sippable like old ET BiB

Old Forester 100 Proof Still your safest bet. Reviews through 2025-2026 call it reliable, rich, full flavored caramel, vanilla, oak, gentle heat, great value $25-30, and holding steady quality no big complaints on recent stuff. Solid upgrade from declining ET.

Runner ups if you want variety

Evan Williams Bottled in Bond 100 proof, Heaven Hill mashbill cheap $15-20, smooth, caramel forward, consistent BiB winner for daily sipping.

Old Grand Dad Bonded 100 proof spicy rye kick, great bang for buck $20-25, holds up well.

Knob Creek 9 Year 100 proof if you can find it under $35, richer oakier than basics, but pricier.

If you're open to stepping up a tad, New Riff Bottled in Bond 100 proof, rye heavy just won World's Best Bourbon 2026 spicy, complex, but $40 and worth hunting.

Stick with OF100 for now it's the closest spiritual successor to old ET BiB without the disappointment.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Got a recommendation for Ben Holladay BiB as well if the state let's it in.

Well the Ben Holladay BiB was not a bad recommendation. It is very much a classic 100 proof bourbon. I'm not the best at picking out tasting notes, but would say the Carmel baking spice type notes are definitely there.
