Hey folks. It's that time again where I need to buy a new gun. I'm targeting a 22LR automatic pistol that would be a great CCW trainer. I appendix carry a P365 on a daily basis. I know there is not a 22LR verbatim copy of the Sig. I'm ok with that. I more interested in working on fundamentals of drawing and gaining more training time for less cost. That being said, I'm NOT looking for a Ruger Mk IV or something that looks like it needs to be in competition.

Some come ready for a suppressor. I have a suppressor and would use it from time to time if equipped, but that's not the main purpose of this pistol.

Suggestions are most welcome. If you have one that didn't work well, that's great info too.

Couple (non Ruger) I've been looking at: FN 502 and the Taurus TX22. Both threaded for suppressor.

There's one Ruger that I keep coming back to. It's a silencer shop only model. It doesn't remind me of a target models but it needs some sort of added sights

Good day Erik

Just waiting for the kick off so I thought I'd bounce you 3 to consider. If you lived over this way I'd meet up with you and we could give them all a run:)

*Walther P22 with the short barrel
*Glock 44
*and my fav... Kel Tec PMR- 30 ( know this one is a 22 mag but uffda of all I carry and shoot hands down this is my fav!

My day to day carry used to be a 43X, I still have it and carry it but far and away I prefer my P365 with Optic

Go Cats!

I carry a P365 as well and picked up a P322 for training as my Walther P22 that I have had for quite some time just doesn't like to run reliably on bulk ammo (automatch) and I wanted an optic on the 22. The Sig has been fantastic, suppressed and without, same optic as my carry gun so presenting is very similar. Highly recommend it, 20 round mags and it feeds great. I have ran my buddy's Taurus TX22 Gen2 and it is also good, better than the Walther.

I ended up with a P322. It felt best in my hand and was the clear winner on all the triggers I tried. No comparison, really. $400 of the door.

I'll update with a range report in a couple days when I hit the range!

Have you tried yours suppressed?
Hah! My wife is a Grizzly. I have no dog in the fight as I went to CSU in CO. Good rivalry this year though!

Having owned and used many Many MANY different revolvers and pistols in cartridges from .22LR to .45ACP, the only one that makes SD sense for me these dayze is the Taurus TX-22 Compact with a Sig red dot. Accurate, amazingly reliable**, deadly, "quiet", extremely cost effective **used only with premium .22LR ammo such as Fed Punch, CCI Velocitor or MiniMag. Solid points, no expanding hollow points - the need is for deep penetration into vitals and those mentioned rounds will meet or exceed the FBI standard.

OP, the Sig is a lot of fun suppressed! Runs the same ammo with the same reliability. This was what I wanted out of a 22, I have not tried the cheapest 'bucket of billets' type of ammo since I have found the Automatch to be a great price point for accuracy out of a handful of my 22 rifles and pistols and have a **** ton of it. Not the case with the Walther, that thing only lines the high powered $$ stuff and only with 7 or 8 rounds in the magazine that holds 10, it does run better suppressed, but I wanted to have an optic, draw from a holster to train with. This is where I find the Sig just plain works for me.

Gents,

I took my P322 out yesterday and had a blast. The trigger is indeed great for an inexpensive plinker. It feels fantastic in the hand(s). I was blasting steel with it for quite awhile and then switched to my actual carry rigs. It worked great and as intended to get me shoot/practicing more on the CCW front.

I was using some cheap bucket of bullets ammo, and it ran fine. I did have some hiccups with feeding, but it was improper feeding of the mags that led to those issues. I read on some reviews this was possible and once I saw the problem, I loaded them more carefully and had no further issues.

Now I just need to get a holster. I plan on getting a Vedder appendix carry holster. I'm also going to get a red/green dot and install it on there. Cheap way to get good with a dot I suppose.

Next, I need to get the suppressor on there and see how that goes. One thing that does bug me…the pistol came with an adapter to mount a suppressor (cool), but there's no thread protector for the adapter (lame)…leaving me to source one. Really, the only gripe I have and it's a minor one.

I want a c.c. pistol that I can shoot from inside a pocket.... reliably
Hammerless 22 evolver....
