I typically start at .050 and work back. If by .100-.120 I haven't found a node I'll go forward of .050. You have to be very careful as they can spike pressure really fast as you get closer to the lands. So Barnes recommends 0.050" minimum jump. That seems like a mile! What is working for you guys?
Also, what loads are working best? Hotter or backed off a bit?
Any other tips?
I load five different guns with Barnes bullets. Only one has a jump at .045 the rest are between.060 and .090So Barnes recommends 0.050" minimum jump. That seems like a mile! What is working for you guys?

I've been using and reloading Barnes for years. All of mine are at 0.05" or a little more and very accurate. In my .243, .270, 7mm-08, and 338 Federal, all of my loads are at or within 1 grain of the listed book max for powder charge. At least in my rifles, they seem to like the higher end of powder charges. I have found a few accuracy nodes at lower charges, but I didn't like the velocities I was getting. I use these for just plinking and having fun, but use the higher end for my hunting loads. So Barnes recommends 0.050" minimum jump. That seems like a mile! What is working for you guys?

I just checked a few of my 200 LRX, and they are not off-center.Are the blue tips always off center?
I have noticed that the tips are off center a bit in most of the tipped barnes bullets that I have used. I have not tried to measure how much, but it is visible and I would guess that 0.006"-0.008" is close. It doesn't appear to affect the accuracy though. Are the blue tips always off center?….talking about 0.006-0.008"
