ATACR Scope on Sporter Rifle?

I am thinking of putting an ATACR on a factory Winchester M70 in 7mmRemMag

Do you fellas think that the ATACR is too big/bulky on a Sporter sized rifle?

The NSX dosnt seem that much smaller and the ATACR has better glass.

I'm set on a Nightforce:)

What do you all think?

The main thing I'd be concerned about is that much weight above the rifle. The 5-25x ATACR is pretty heavy.

Why would weight above the rifle bother you...balance point?

I want something that has a 30mm tube, 5-18,22 ish power, ballistic turrets, top quality optics, and a reticle with hash marks. I'm having trouble finding all of them in one scope! The closest I can think of is a 5-22x50 NSX.

Any thoughts?

I don't like that combination. Terrible balance for a carry rifle.

Only way you'll know is to try it. The rifle will want to be carried upside down.

While aiming/shooting it will be top heavy and want to cant as well I bet.

I scoured the different makers and it seems that what I am looking for is pretty limited to an NSX or a Zeiss Victory Diavari.

30mm tube, 18 or so power, 50 or under objective, with Kenton knobs.

Am I missing something fellas?

March 2.5-25x52 with a Custom Turret Systems wrap on it, I haven't bought a Kenton knob since I started using the wraps!

Where did you get your March Scope? Seems the distributer is from Australia?

What do you do if there's a problem with the scope?

That's a "rich" scope, :) but probably a very, very nice one. Topnotch glass and fairly lightweight and compact, considering all the features built into it.

LOL, had my first field experience this past week with one of these. Chased it for a day and a half. Took it off and slapped on an ATACR Enhanced and commenced to hitting targets to 1822 yards and in. So despite the current buzz, I am not impressed as of yet. I didn't like the thick reticle either but that a personal thing with me.

It depends on how you plan on using the rifle. If you carry it, or anticipate quick shots its not the choice I would make.

After using the ATACR, I bought a second one, I like them.

Would you think that swaping it for an NSX would make a big difference?

Is the NSX that much smaller? I know it's longer.

Roughly 8 ounces, until you get down to the 2.5-10. Then you get half the weight, 19 ounces.

For about the same weight Leupold has the 3-18x. Trade offs depending on how you see yourself using the rifle.

General big game hunting, steel, and some target shooting. I also shoot prairie dogs once a year too...I like the custom turrets!

I hate to give up the better glass of the ATACR, but the NSX is lighter, less bulky, and will sit lower on the gun.....how much smaller is the question
