Are there any GOOD custom rifles say under $1200?

Mike,
There are no black holes. Just affordable accuracy.
I handload and tune each load to maximize accuracy.

As AJ was kind enough to let you know- the Shilen barrel is pre-fit and ready to go, select match for $269. Kevin at Stockade will put a Benchmark barrel on for $330.
You can use the Laminated BVSS stock that comes with those Savage models or buy an out of the mold stock from Stockade for $150 and finish it
yourself.
You can use Krylon and do it yourself.

A smith will bed it for $60-$75 and do a great job.

In fact, I have a stock .300win BVSS that I had bedded that I shoot clay birds with at 565yds and an 8" gong at 1000yds with regularity.

You are right,it isn't a Stiller in a custom molded color Mcmillan, but it is a very accurate and serviceable hunting rifle.

The accutrigger is a fine trigger. It does have a few too many moving parts and if you don't like it you can put in a Sharpshooters Supply trigger or a rifle Basic for $90.
