I'm getting a 270 AI next month and I would like to know if anybody has some favorite loads they would be willing to share. I plan on using the 140gr Bergers out of a 26" Bartlein barrel. I have shot the regular 270 for the last 45 yrs and thought I would like to try something new. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I've got a .270AI in an FN Mauser with a 24" Douglas 10" twist, barrel, and a Timney adjusted to 26oz. The stock is a laminated thumbhole and it has a 15X Bushnell on right now, but when I take it hunting it'll have a 2-7X Redfield that'll work for the long-range I'll do. I put the max range at 400 yards for game.
I've used 130gr Sierra boattails(.020" jump) with 67.0gr of H1000 andMagTech 9 1/2s for 3175fps. QuickLoad predicted 61K for that velocity/load.
64.0gr/7828ssc with 130gr Speer flatbase(.030") and Tula LR primers gave 3120fps
When I used .030" jump with 150gr Sierra boattails and 60/IMR7828 with CCI 200s, I got 3050fps.
The rifle gives me 1.0MOA with all these loads at 100 yards.
I've tried some Sierra 140gr boattails and gotten sub-1" with VV N560 but so far the velocities are only about 3000fps.
The AIs don't show pressure signs as quickly as factory cartridges, so some care has to be taken as the pressures may be quite high before they show up.
That's OK, as pressure is what gets the bullet out of the barrel.
I hope you have as much fun with your .270 as I have with mine.

Thanks so much for your info and data. My rifle is a Rem 700 that I'm getting rebarreled with a 26"Brux and a trued action from Chad Dixon on his Group Buy. I am wanting to try out Berger's 140 Hunting VLD and hopefully make that into my all purpose load.
I have used Sierra's 130 GMK for most of the 40 years I have shot my old .270. I know I can always fall back on it if the bergers don't perform.
