In September, we're going on a plains game hunt to South Africa. I've decided to take a 300 WSM and 180 grain bullets are recommended. In my "stash", I have Norma Oryx, Norma Bondstrike, and Nosler Partition 180s. I've always been partial to the Partitions but think they, along with the Oryx, might be a little too much even though, I'm sure, they'd get the job done. I've read good things on the Bondstrikes and I'm leaning that way but I'm looking for opinions and anyone who has had experience with them for this type of hunt.

I too am in favor of the Partitions and Oryx bullets based on the successful harvesting of dozens of head of game including elk.

I have not had a chance to load and test the Bond Strikes yet though. But rather than load and take untested ammunition on any hunt, I suggest that you find some form of feral pig hunt in to test what that bullet does on living tissue. Reviews are great entertainment but many can't be believed due to the drive to sell a product. Fake reviews always stilt the decisions to use a product.

Go find some hogs, shoot them then do an autopsy.

Never heard of too much or effective bullet performance. I'm partial to the Partition, yet the animals are a little more stout so bonded is probably way I would go. What did your outfitter suggest? I still laugh and remember about Gary Loomis (told to me by his brother HS wrestling coach) in early 80's on Safari and his PH did not want him to shoot his Wildebeest with a 180PT/300WBY. Gary mentioned he would pay and it was off the list no matter what happened. After dropping it one shot at a few hundred yards....the PH had him shoot several more (Meat/Gratis) just to verify/prove it was not a fluke. Tech has changed our options and is awesome....old school still just flat works!

Hunted on 10,000 acre Ranch. Seems like we saw 1K different animals a day. Just going into winter season and had a lot of rain before we got there with leaves still on the trees & Bushes. Alot of riding in an old WWII Jeep with miles of walking to "Spot & Stalk". Trip of a lifetime!!!
We took a .325WSM 200gr AB and a .25WSSM with 110 AB to SA and shot BushBuck to Kudu. AcuuBonds worked Great.
What part of SA?
Do a lot of practice shooting all positions. You will most likely shoot off of Shooting Sticks. These animals seem to be tougher than Deer & Elk.
Communicate with your Outfitter/PH on what to bring, get in good physical shape, and enjoy a trip of a lifetime!!!

You're hunt sounds similar to mine: Same area of SA, 10,000 acre ranch, except we'll be going in late September only on a 5 day, 3 animal safari. We will add an extra animal or so, ala carte, if you will. Due to time constraints back home we couldn't go for a longer period of time but maybe someday we can go longer. Our PH recommends 30 cal with 180s and seemed satisfied with the 300 WSM. A wildebeest is on the kill list but my son seems like he's interested in that one with his 300 PRC. In the meantime, we intend on getting in lots of range time up to 300 yds. I don't feel confident enough shooting any farther than that with my old eyes and I definitely need to get in better shape.

My son and I hunted SA in May 2014, plains game. Both with 300WBY. He 200 grn Nosler AB and me 200 grn Nosler PT. 2014 reloading supplies was harder to get than now. Huge zebra, 200 PT, one shot kill. Huge red hartebeest, 200 AB, one shot kill. For everything else, I could have done with smaller.
180 Nosler AB/PT should work no problem. I have no experience with Norma, but they used to make the Weatherby bullets long ago. I have no reason to doubt their performance. I think what ever you choose sshould be fine.
Finally, talk with your host. He will have the most experience of all

I am a huge TSX fan however the partitions are just plain great projectiles. I have never seen one fail to expand or penetrate
