A-bolt tang metal plate bedding

Got a 300wsm A-bolt synthetic stock and going to pillar bed and bed the recoil lug and the area just after the magazine box.

Anyone know what purpose the metal plate/shim on the rear action nut is for?
Should i leave it out and have the tang fully floated?

I would not, I would epoxy that thing into the stock and keep it right where it is.
