Bedding bottom metal

Could someone please explain the proper way to bed hinged floorplate bottom metal. The stock has been pillar bedded.

I am planning on doing mine, a Winchester M70 with a Manners Stock.

I've bedded a dozen pillar bedded stocks and every time i wonder how hard it could be.
I don't even know if it would help anything.
