8yr old's first hog

I had the chance to take my buddy joe's son hog huntin this week . After about a 15min walk through the marsh we spotted our first hog but it spooked n ran from where it was bedded .Then we saw 4smaller hogs at a water hole n as we were makin our way toward them i happen to glance back from where we had just came from, out n the marsh was something new it looked like a big stump with ears ! I told gavin to slip up behind an over hangin oak limb so he would be close enough for a shot . Well we made it within 40yards of the boar n got him propped up with his HENRY 22mag . He waited for it to turn broadside then took 1 shot to the head ,the hog jumped straight up n crashed over into the tall marshgrass and that his all it took for a lil boy to get hooked n ready to go after another 1! GOOD JOB BUDDY!!!!

Very cool CONGRATS! My 4 yr old thinks my Henery 22lr is his ''firty-firty'', so, I guess when he gets a bit bigger Ill get another. Hopefully he'll be as skilled with his as the kid in your picture.
Way to get em' started young! I like that.

Wow - what an awesome experience for an eight year old. I can't imagine taking a hog with a 22wmr.

One comment, one question....

Remind the young man to take his finger off the trigger when he's not shooting.

There appears to be a leg wound. Did the hog require a finishing shot?

Also, really like the look of that levergun. Didn't know Henry makes them in 22mag.
