I've shot a 7 Rem mag for years; mostly as an elk rifle but I used to use it for combo hunts when you could still get over-the-counter tags for mulies in Colorado. It did a good job on both.
I use 160 Nosler partitions with 66 gr of H4831, and get 3040fps. I have shot 150 partitions with 67 gr of the same powder and they shoot right into the same group. I've got a glass/ carbon stock I made myself and haven't changed the scope settings for years. Haven't chrono'd the 150 gr loads but might be getting in the low 3100's. The rifle is an old model Ruger 77, with a "200th year of liberty" stamp on the barrel, as a matter of fact.
