788 rem. barrel

I have a SS barrel off a Rem. 788 action. I want to buy a complete

Rem. 700SA stainless steel. I would like to mount the 788 SS barrel

on the new SS700SA action. please advise. is this possible??

The 788 barrel tenon thread pitch is 1" x 20 TPI and cannot be use for a 700 action because it is a smaller diameter (The 700 has a 1 1/6" x 16 Tenon thread).

To use the 788 barrel you would have to cut the entire thread tenon off and re-thread the tenon and re-chamber it.
