I ran down to the field and shot the five rounds I loaded trough my CED M2 chronograph. 156' MSL, mostly cloudy, 31 dungarees Frankenstein (lol), winds NNW 5-8 mph.
Savage 110 Ultralite (LH), 22" Proof Research barrel @~140 total rounds
Hornady case
Fed 215 primer
175gr ABLR
IMR 7828ssc
64 gr - 2762 fps
64.5 gr - 2807 fps
65 gr - 2855 fps
65.5 gr - 2859 fps
66 gr - 2891 fps
No obvious overpressure signs.
IDK where the hell that cold shot came from....but oofa!

I have used 7828 SC for over 10 years in my custom 300 Rum and have 1/2 in. groups forever . Had to extend bullet after 1000 rounds. 3180 with 200 gr. Accubonds. 26" lilga Barrel. Great Barrel 10 twist . Never seen very much temp change. Live in Wyo Sight in in spring and go hunting in fall. Maybe shoot a couple of times in summer at 1000 yards for practice. Oh I used 88 gr. of 7828 SC

Also note that I have not sighted in the rifle since I took the scope and two-piece rings off to do a pillar bed job on the cheapo Accufit stock. It's shooting high, which is great for not destroying my aiming point.

SSC is little short tubes of 7828. The old 7828 was long rods and seemed to look like pick up sticks going down the neck of the cartridge case. It is good for magnum cartridges with heavier bullets. It use it when I ran out of retumbo.
Also in data it states treat as if both were/are different as in not grain for grain. I think the ssc is less per pressure than non-ssc.

I have never seen or heard this before. I haven't seen non ssc in years so I would imagine it's discontinued?
This was in earlier publications when the ssc was 1st made. I'll check and see if I can find it again.
I could think it should be treated equal (including me) as IMR states it's equal powder, only shorter and meters better. Thus the reason I bought it instead of the non version. I don't have NY Hornady volume 7 or 8 (whichever volume the ssc was released) as that might be where I read that?

Although multiple places state "use the same data " and can have "4% more space " it could be a "lot" difference? I'll still check older publications.

I remember loading 7828 in my 340 Bee, and then switching to the new 7828ssc. I looked back into my log book and found that I was running 88gr of 7828 with 250gr SGKs at 2950fps, and with 7828ssc I was getting that velocity with that bullet at just 87gr.
Even at a lot change, 1 full grain is huge especially at near max pressure if the case?
