I have decided at long last to have another 6-284 built. I will have christensen arms build it on a remington long action. I want the long action so i can shoot the really heavy 6mm bullet and not seat it very deep. So my question is what twist would you use for a 100 grn 6mm bullet at about 3200 feet per second. Maybe the 117 grn at 3050 fps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

7.5 twist will shoot the 115s at 3100 pretty darn well and also shoots the 105s okay. You can probably do okay with the 8 twist for the 105s but for the 115 class bullets I think a 7.5 twist would be better.

Mine has a 10 twist 26" and it won't stabilize 105 bergers. I have had limited success with 100 SK's pushing them hard but it is much happier with 85's. Next barrel will be an 7 1/2 or 8 twist.

I have a sub 18" XP-100 in 6-284 (1-8 twist 5C Broughton). Have shot the 115 DTACS from the get go with no problems.
