6.5x55 AI and the 6.5-06 AI comparison

The easy button is the 6.5/06 with 140g ELDMs at 2900 and up to 3000 in Lapua brass with H1000 for long barrel life, 26" 8 Twist. I neck turn the necks just to uniform them, Rem 700- 26", 8T.

In my 26" 6.5x55, I shoot the 127g Barnes long range at 3150 into very tiny groups using R#26 and cci 250's, Rem 700 Long action.

A friend that I trust is shooting the 6.5/06 AI with 140g partitions at 3150, but I do not know the particulars on his load, Winchester model 70.

I would think the 6.5x284 would be the easiest. Lapua brass and beats the creedmore. I would also look at the 6.5 and 7saum.

284 Lapua brass is hard to find, with WAR looming, no telling when we will see it again. I have had very good success using once fired Winchester 30/06 brass in the 6.5/06 with 140's at 2900 being easy to manage, not pushing the red line. The Lapua 30/06 brass runs 3050 fps, incredable tough brass, 26" barrels.
