Just curious what everyone is getting velocity wise from their prc 22”, 24”, 26” with hand loaded 143 eldx or 147 match. Trying to determine if this is a cartridge to pursue or look at the saum. Not interested in fireforming brass. Thanks for all the help, a lot of very experienced shooters and hand loaders on this site!

I'm running 3035 with the 143 eldx in a 24" barrel using RL26, no signs of pressure. Hornady brass.

    I'm getting 3050fps 147gr ELD w/ RL26
Rifle wears a 26 inch 8 twist Proof barrel

I had it a tad over 3100 fps but the accuracy wasn't there.

I think it's important to find out from you what your magazine limit is or if you advocate shooting single shot? Some folks seem to think that cartridges such as this require a long action to seat the bullets out. Others, like myself, will use this cartridge in a DBM system with a limit of 2.925" OAL.

Primarily hunting rifle so single feeding is out. It would be built on a long action. Or a savage short action which I believe is very close to 3” so definitely some options. I’ve talked to a few guys who have factory rifles and claim accuracy has been great so it’s a matter of whether it’s enough performance gain to get serious about a build. Once agin thanks for all the info!

I did see where Rich Sherman has head stamped 6.5 brass coming; I think he rents reamers for $50...

My reamer has longer than standard freebore, plus I shoot moly plated bullets, so most guns shooting plain bullets in a standard or shorter freebore, will not be able to run my top end loads.

I know you’ve done a lot of work with 6.5 PRC. Read some of it on AS. How much freebore? You running medium or long action?
