I won't say it was total luck, because it's not like I tripped and the gun went off. But let's just say I didn't call the headshot.

I wonder why the video looks wierd at the time of impact - after the shot the dog is instantly down and the video feed seems interupted for a second?

Yeah, I had the muzzle of the gun about 4" from the camera, and it caused some interference. On the tape, the coyote turns into blue pixels as he goes down and the sound is all messed up. When I uploaded it it just dropped the frames, so it looks like he went down with some authority.

Ah, it's just a regular ol' Remington 700 in 7mm Mag. (Trying to shoot it out so I can get a custom barrel ) That particular load was actually not very accurate at all, about 1.25". I am now getting less than .75" with 162gr AMAXs but I just haven't had a shot over 400 with them yet. Sure does put a hurt on some coyotes at 350 though! I wish I had that load that day, it would have been a vitals or at least neck shot.

The only thing that ruined the shot was that out of the same filthy mouth comes out the "f" word and Holy Name of Jesus!
