44 mag and lil gun

I use Unique for mild loads (1100 fps) and Blue Dot for heavier cast loads (1400 fps). Didn't have good luck with 296/H110 in cast. The 296/110 powder is great in the 44M with jacketed.
 
I tried Blue Dot with a 260 gr cast HP and with the 245 gr Keith style SWC. The ES on both was horrible at over 100 fps.

That's another reason I stopped using Blue Dot. I use 2400 for almost all my cast bullet loads in the 44 Mag. IMO, it can't be beat. Maybe equaled, but not beat. I agree 100% with jacketed bullets using H110/WW296. At least everything 240 gr and up.
 
Here's another vote for 2400 with LSWC's. I hunt with Keith bullets using Elmer's pet load.

For less than full throttle loads it's hard to beat Unique.

With both propellants you'll get the desired obturation with limited gas cutting using cast bullets.

blue dot is good in a shotty, but it is lacking in pistols at times. it works well with 180's in my 40 smith, but I won't run it in a revolver.
 
A very much overlooked powder that works awesome in the .44 is Ramshot Enforcer. Plus seems to be reasonably available even on Hodgdon's website.

how's Enforcer treating you muddy? I haven't used it yet. I just delved into vit110 for the revolvers and my first foray simply sucked. I guess a 158 swaged with a mild load of the stuff isn't very stable in my 357. They all went bang, but it must have been better than a foot group at 100. I'll play with stuff I've cast as soon as I shoot some brass open.
 
Check your lot #…I blew up a 17 and got a recall notification about a month later

I am using it in my .357Max with 140SH and so far so good. Great velocity of 2650fps which is crazy for the .357Max. It is an Encore, 24" MGM 1:14tw barrel with "rifle" throat which helps a lot. I haven't used in my .357Mag yet since I prefer VV N110 for the .357 Mag. I have a S&W 629+ 4" that is pretty darn accurate for a 4" barrel. I shot a woodchuck at about 50 yds with 125XTP and it was DRT. 😂 Not sure why it wouldn't. Then again chuck might of stepped in front of the bullet but I will take credit!!

I will load up some Enforcer in the .357 Mag since I can't do much else with my back right now.🤬

give me a few insights on what v110 likes in revolvers if you would... I picked up a keg for 200 a couple months back and intend on using it in place of 4227 when I run out of that powder...
