Upon rereading what I wrote….it was poorly written.

I kept my XTR, merely retired it. I bought another Model 70 in 300 Weatherby for the action. Then put all of the aforementioned components on the new action. So, I have two ….a standard and an AI

I think the H&H is a great cartridge. Any of the AI versions better, because they will still shoot H&H.

Skip all the drama and just do a simple barrel swap to 375 Ruger. If you can't find brass then buy some 300 prc brass and it's a simple neck up. You could do 2 rifles and 200 rounds of brass like this cheaper than 1 conversion to H&H.

For ME, the easy decision is a used Winchester Model 70 in 375 H&H, Most of those are used very little.

Kinda like shoot'n .38 Specials in the .357 Mag! Except you don't get the "fouling" ring in the cylinder! memtb

Love to shoot light loads in our .357's, .44 Mags, and my 460 S&W…..only I use full length brass to avoid the possibility of cylinder fouling. I'm lazy…..I don't clean them as often as I should!

I loaded some light 44 mag loads but have not shot it yet. Once I move to the country side I will shoot more. My own range

The light loads are a blast, pun intended! Easy on the components, easy on the revolver, and easy on the shooter. The huge benefits of having your personal range and/or miles of open country cannot be overstated!

Now….when you start "casting" for your shoot'n rigs, you've completed your journey! memtb
