338 lapua mag starter load

I'm going to be helping my brother get into reloading with his 338 lapua savage 110ba. To start he's got lapua brass, Fed 215M primers, H1000 powder, and hornady 285gr bullets. Going with mag length, but does anyone have a good starter point with the powder? I was looking at the Hornady reloading manual and the charges they say to start with to the top end is around a 20 gr difference. I just wanted to narrow it down a little, supply's for the lapua aren't cheap don't want to waste anymore than we need to. Thanks in advance

He is using a different bullet so work up cautiously (it is ALWAYS good practice to do so).
