Im building a 338 lapua imp 25" barrel #6 benchmark for a elk/bear hunting rifle mainly but im sure deer also at times. Would you guys try 300 berger eh first in load work or 285 eldm?

I'd go with the 300 Bergers. They fly like a jet in the jet stream. I would also try the 250's also if it were me. The 250 Bergers are brutal on elk.

300 otm i never had good luck with the elites. Otm and hybrids have been great

What issues have you had with berger EH? What it poor performance on game or bad groups

Bad performance on game. In several guns and calibers. Including 300's

Otm and hybrids have been great. Those eldms show good track record. I shoot a tips anymore. But ive yet to get 300 a tips too shoot in any of my lapua improves. Bergers have always shot best in it.

I've shot the 285 eldm out of my Lapua imp
30" barrel around 3080 fps in tiny little groups the only thing I killed was a muley buck around 250yds

it destroyed the insides

I used the 285 for load work . There cheaper and plenty good for that purpose. Plus close to the same drop data as the 300 Berger.

I shoot the 300 grain berger otms in mine, they work great on elk and deer.

I use the 285ELDM for fire forming. I've had some of my smallest groups using them. 300 elite hunters after that.

I've done the eld's and currently running the 246 hammers in mine. But for the real long range shots I rock the 300gr laser from cutting edge.
