338-06 load's

Mine is not an 06 AI, but a 338 Sherman (similar capacity I think).
I too have had good success with Hammers.
175gr at 3200 FPS with Varget.
213gr at 2843 with 6.5 Staball and 2763 FPS with Varget.

Easiest load development of any bullet I have tried in multiple calibers/cartrdges.

Carried the 338-06 for years here in Alaska for moose always used 225gr Nosler Partitions with great success.

I have a bunch of 225-gr Accubonds and some 210-gr Partitions. Don't have 225-gr Partitions. So far this rifle shoots into 3/4 inch groups, except for the 200-grain Speer. It really doesn't like those.

In that cartridge, it won't matter which bullet you choose, they are all pretty good in terminal performance. I would stay above 215gr for moose. My personal load is with a 250gr Speer.

What kind of velocity are you getting?

Here We Go!

I've drew a moose tag for Northern Idaho this fall. I plan to use my .338-06AI that I got last year. Now I start working up loads. I realize that almost any good bullet will work, but I have various Nosler, Sierras, Barnes, and 210-gr Sciraccos.

Partition? Accubond? Game King? Barnes?

Suggestions?

In that area the shots will likely be short.
What load did you settle on and how did the moose hunt go?

In the 338-06 with 62.0 with 210gr Nosler Part in WW or Norma cases with Fed 210M of RL17. That bullet is a great all around bullet for that size of case.

Moose hunt this year missed my first shot since I was a teenager….,,devastating me. I misjudged the range and used the wrong crosshairs on the Leupold scope an easy 425 yard shot ….,,,,shot right over his back twice small young bull. But it was exciting season had bullls on both sides of camp and a hot cow in the middle of my saddle. Had one grizzly show up about 1200 yards away in saddle. Hunted the first 12 days of a 15 day season in my area. Rain and fog arrived and we packed up and called it a season. I still have moose in freezer from 2022.
