I am interested in trying IMR 4451 in my 325 WSM. I can't find any specific load data anywhere. I contacted Hodgdon/IMR and they did not offer any information. The powder is advertised as excellent for use in the 300 WSM, burn rates are listed between IMR 4350 and H 4350.
How would one predict a starting load to work up from?
Hodgdon 300 WSM data shows 4451 sitting right along with IMR and H 4350 charges for the most part. Would it be safe to extrapolate a starting load in the 325 that sits in the same area the 4350s?
With a 180gn BTip I was thinking 61.0 for a starting point. That would be a grain below the starting load of 62.0 for H4350 in the Nosler guide for the 325 WSM. Or would I be safer to start even lower? Or even safer if I let someone else blaze the trail? I have always reloaded with published guidelines to follow.
