I am planning to go on my first western elk hunt later this year and will be taking my fairly heavy 300 RUM for long range and would like to have a short range back-up gun to also take with me. I'm shooting the 215 Berger in my RUM and have been experimenting with the 168 grain Bergers and Re-15 powder and have not yet found an accurate sub MOA load. The gun shoots the 168 Amaxes around 1/2 MOA but that bullet may not be the best for elk. I would like to try the 215 Bergers but don't have any load data for that heavy of a bullet. If anyone has any load data using the 215 Berger in the 308 Win they could share it would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

It might be too hot in your gun, but I shoot the 210 VLD's in my .308 Win. I use 39.1gr of Varget and it shoots them into 1 ragged hole @ 100.

This is a 3-shot group. It CAN shoot better than this if I get really
steady and no wind or sun in my eyes.

Thanks to everyone! Your help is very much appreciated. If I find a suitable, accurate load I'll be sure to post it here.

Off the top in a .308 Win I'd say (43.5grs) of RL15'..., Fed 210M prime in a Win or Lapua case.. however the bullet I'd change to a Berger 175gr Hunter. You should see 2650 fps and outstanding accuracy.

Good luck

Ive worked up a few loads with the 215 in the 308win.

46.4 gns reloader17 & cci#200 primer 2630fps - start at 45 gns
48.0 gn H4350 & cci#200 primers 2605fps - start at 45 gns

Re17 i maxed out at 49gn
H4350 i couldnt get enough into the case

Shot both from +.08 to -.005 and performed best jammed

Fed primers gave a little better spreads but i ran out

If i did it over i would probably give h414 (w760) a try.
