300 win mag N570

I know right! It makes this 300 win mag close to 300 rum velocities... According to the VV app, they recommend starting at 77.8 and max at 81.8 for Lapua Scenar-L 220 grain bullets with 2566 to 2753 FPS but that was from a 24.5" test barrel.

just a small point of order.
you shot 3 shot GROUPS, you did not shot a ladder.
groups in steps, ladder is SINGLE shots in steps
i have 2 300's currently doing well on rl26, but will try 570

Alliant's website list RL-23's description as using "TZ® technology provides exceptionally consistent velocities across temperature extremes" but RL-26 as
"Controlled temperature stability". Not sure that means the same thing or just marketing hype.

I shot a ladder previously to determine velocities and look for max pressure. I really needed more yardage for ladder. See below:

so the load development kinda goes like this:
LADDER...find a node or 2 plus max
3 shot GROUPS eval the nodes from above
5 shot GROUPS proof the 3 shot data from above
TUNE adjust oal and small powder charge changes for the "best".
retest at temp and elevation where use is expected

Yeah pretty close... I try to do 3 shot groups at 0.1 grain increments after verifying node with .5 grain jump. That will let me know high and low end of node. Pick the powder charge in middle of node. Then do seating test adjustment to finalize the load.

In order to fine tune my powder charge, I loaded 3 rounds each from 78.5 to 79 in 0.1 grain increments.

If I could shoot better and not pull one every now and then, it would be better... overall I like 78.8 due to chrono results and groups. Also the 78.8 poi is about the same as 78.7 and 78.9.

Thanks. I'm still amazed at the velocity. My Rum with 8 more grains of powder is getting the same velocity but with the 230 Bergers. The 300 win mag load is smoking and has no pressure sign.

RL26 is not a temp stable powder.

Danny, I hear what you keep saying. Saying it and sharing a post from 24hourcampfire doesn't make it true. I use it and have my own opinion of it, as others on here do. I think I know your opinion of it but do you have any experiences with it you'd like to share?
