I just got my 300 win mag from centershot rifles. Looking to push a 200 accubond. I have h1000, retumbo and h4831sc. Norma brass and fed match primers. Pulled data off Hodgdon's site but everyone seems to be well past their max.

My nosler reloading book doesn't have any data for H1000 or retumbo either. I am looking for good data on what folks are using on their 300 win mag that is 1/2 MOA or better please.

Thanks for he help!

All three powders will give excellent performance. I use Norma brass and Fed 215 primers. Good starting loads with the 200gr NAB for these powders are: 71.5 gr. h4831SC, 73gr H1000, and 75 gr of Retumbo. COAL of 3.62". Work them up in .5gr increments.. My 26" barrel Rem 700 Milspec with 210VLD's, loaded .010" off the lands produces 2790FPS with 76.5gr of H1000 and 2880FPS with 79gr of Retumbo. I settled on Retumbo for my final load because of the high velocity and lowest ES. I did not optimize a load with H4831SC but the starting loads shot well. All of these powders produced .5MOA or better. Keep in mind that Norma brass has 3-5 gr higher case capacity than Winchester brass. Hope this helps.

I Finally got mine shooting where I wanted with 77-grains of H1000, Fed215m, Win Brass. My 8-shot average was 3023 fps at 70-degrees and 6000'.

70.5 grains of H4831sc shot well too, but speed and accurracy are with H1000 in my rifle. I have a new Remington 700 Ti Alaskan showing up Thursday. For the money I hope it shoots as well as the Savage! Good luck and have best results with NAB's with jump or in 300WM at the 3.340 OAL. My 06 likes them short too or 3.250.

I assume that is a longer barrel you are shooting to get 3023 fps?

Actually 23" barrel, 10-ft from muzzle, 12-shots total of each lot verified. I questioned the readings as well so we switched to another chrony for verification. The paper above has all the numbers.

Have you verified it with drops at all shooting at a distance? That just seems really high for a 300WM, especially with a 23" barrel. I'm getting close to those velocities with a 300 RUM with 93gr of Retumbo and a 26" barrel.

I did not have time to get it out pst 200-yards this day and thought the same, but then shot 10-runds of 180's and they ran aound 3100. I shot 223 ad my 06 andthey were in the area they should be. I will get it out on my next outing an vrify it against the balistic app. I was realisticly looking for 2850-2900 like H4831sc. I have nothing to gain by ling and would not have believed it either if there were not 2-chrony's there.

Regards,

Yeah, I'm definitely not trying to call you a liar, was just curious :)

No issues, just for some reason on the internet guys make comments without confirmation is all and I did not want my results to come off as such. My buddies were saying they needed to try some H1000 after our day out. I did read somewhere an article which I cannot find where the author noted higher velocities with NAB versus NP by as much as 100fps. My new 300WM which has a 24" barrel arrives tomorrow, so I am hoping to get it out and clock the same loads in it. I will tell.....:D
